Focus on the Youth is an organization whose mission is to train youth to turn the world upside down! It is founded by Mrs. Kysha Owens who after ten years in the engineering field, decided to leave her lucrative career and pursue her true passion - impacting the lives of youth.
In order to fulfill the mission of training youth to turn the world upside down, Focus on the Youth (FOTY) recognizes that youth must first conquer their personal 'world', i.e., themselves. Therefore, FOTY dedicates itself to educate and equip our youth to make healthy and productive decisions.
To accomplish this end, Focus on the Youth offers the following resources:
- What Creatures Teach Us, an illustrated children's book. This colorful, illustrated book is unique in that it serves two purposes. One is to capture children's attention by teaching them about the different attributes of animals. The second purpose is to use their interest in animals to teach them that those same attributes that should be operating in their lives (e.g., diligence from an ant, selflessness from an ape). For more information on this book, please visit www.whatcreaturesteachus.com.
- Abstinence Education Services. Working with youth on a daily basis, FOTY is aware of the challenges they face. One of the major challenges is peer pressure. When you think of that term, what probably comes to mind is one youth encouraging another to do something negative. However, as mentioned previously, the mission of Focus on the Youth is to turn the world upside down. Therefore, we look at peer pressure as a positive thing. And one area that we like to encourage peer pressure is in the area of sex.
