          Focus on the Youth

          What Creatures Teach Us

          One of the continual topics of discussion in America is the decline in morals, especially among our youth.  The tenacity and boldness of the youth today are characteristics much needed in today's society. However, it is society's responsibility to train the youth to channel those qualities toward good purposes.

          In order to be effective in that training process, the youth must be interested in and able to relate to what they are being taught.  Therefore, the goal of the illustrated, devotional book, What Creatures Teach Us (ISBN 0-9769339-0-X), is as they go about their lives and encounter the different animals, they will remember the attribute that should be working in their own lives.

          It is written in the form of a devotional book with three parts to each devotion:
          • a short story about the animal, describing its particular attribute;
          • the relationship of that particular animal's attribute to a Scripture about the attribute;  and
          • a question that challenges them to look at themselves to determine whether that particular attribute is active in their life.
          The market for this book is pre-kindergarten through sixth grade children and their parents.  What Creatures Teach Us is 112 pages and contains 52 devotions and therefore lends itself to a weeklong focus on each attribute.  The book is written in such a way that an elementary and middle school child can read it on his or her own, a parent can read it to his or her pre- kindergarten child, or it can be used as a family bible study.
