          Focus on the Youth

Mrs. Kysha Owens, founder of Focus on the Youth, has always known what her passion is…working with youth.  Growing up, she wanted to be either a teacher or a child psychologist.  At the age of 12, she not only took dance classes, but also taught dance classes to younger children.  When it was time for college, she decided to pursue a more lucrative career in engineering.  All the while, in her spare time she continued working with children – as a Big Sister in the Big Brother/Big Sister program, a dance instructor, a Sunday School teacher, abstinence teacher, and a curriculum developer.

Although she holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and was a manager at a multi-entity healthcare organization in Atlanta, she realized that her desire to work with youth on a more consistent basis was stronger than her desire to stay at the organization.  Therefore, she resigned from that managerial position in engineering to pursue her true passion – impacting the lives of youth.

Kysha’s passion is to help youth understand their purpose and to give them the tools to walk in that purpose.  Since her resignation, she has pursued her passion by  returning to her love of teaching as a math teacher and tutor.  In addition, she has published an illustrated children's devotional titled What Creatures Teach Us and has been successfully promoting her book through various arenas. Mrs. Owens has also become certified as an abstinence educator.

Through authoring, public speaking, teaching, and mentoring, it is her goal to train youth to turn the world upside down.
